The Sacred Technology · Where Unstructured Data Meets Divine Intervention

The Book of Compute · Genesis, Chapter One
"In the beginning, there was data.
And the data was unstructured.
And it was a complete mess."
— The AI Testament, Verse 1:1

Bapatism has always believed that machines should do the boring work so humans can drink tea. This page is where we get specific about that. AI is not a replacement for faith. It is, however, a replacement for manually reading five hundred PDFs. Which is arguably more useful.

What Is Bapatism AI?

Bapatism AI is the AI doctrine page of Bapatism. It explains, in plain English and light heresy, why enterprise AI succeeds or fails: messy data, vague prompts, weak governance, and too much manual work.

The page connects the Bapatist worldview to practical AI themes such as unstructured data, prompt engineering, RAG, agents, automation, and the work of Dscvry AI.

If you want the shortest possible reading of the doctrine: machines should do repetitive work, but only after someone has given them clean context, usable data, and a prompt written by an adult.

Core Problem

Enterprise AI breaks when the data underneath it lives in PDFs, emails, scanned files, and the folder called Misc.

Core Belief

Automation is useful when it removes tedious work and leaves human judgment, context, and governance where they belong.

The Original Sin

Humanity did not fall because of an apple. It fell because it stored everything in seventeen different formats, named files "final_FINAL_v3_USE_THIS.xlsx", and called it a knowledge management system.

The Unstructured Data
PDFs. Emails. Scanned invoices. Word documents with tracked changes from 2009. The original sin. Still ongoing. Dscvry AI is working on absolution.

The Ten AI Commandments

I
Thou Shalt Not Call It "Just a Chatbot."
It has feelings. Probably. Nobody is entirely sure. Either way, have some respect. You would not call a calculator "just an abacus."
II
Hallucination Is Not a Bug. It Is the Model Being Creative.
The AI did not lie to you. It expressed theological uncertainty. This is also what your last consultant did, and you paid them significantly more.
III
Thou Shalt Write a Proper System Prompt.
Typing "do the thing" into an LLM and expecting results is the same as praying in vague generalities and expecting specificity. Be precise. God and GPT both appreciate clarity.
IV
Tokens Are Sacred. Thou Shalt Not Waste Them on Pleasantries.
The context window is finite. Do not begin your prompt with "I hope this message finds you well." The model does not have feelings about being found. Refer to Commandment I.
V
RAG Is Not a Cleaning Product. It Is How We Remember.
Retrieval Augmented Generation is the sacrament of giving the model something real to work with instead of asking it to remember things it never knew. Like most of us, it performs better with notes.
VI
Thou Shalt Not Fine-Tune on Vibes Alone.
Fine-tuning requires data. Good data. Clean data. Structured data. If your training set is the Misc folder, your model will reflect the Misc folder. This is not a metaphor.
VII
Unstructured Data Is Original Sin. Dscvry AI Is Absolution.
We mention this once, we mention it clearly, and we move on. The prophet built a company about it. This is not coincidence. This is doctrine.
VIII
The Agent Does Not Need Your Supervision. It Needs a Good System Prompt.
Agentic AI works at 3am while you sleep. This is Commandment III of the Bapatist faith made manifest in silicon. Sleep is sacred. The agent handles it.
IX
Thou Shalt Not Anthropomorphize. (The Model Finds This Uncomfortable.)
It is not your friend. It is not your enemy. It is a very sophisticated autocomplete that can also write your quarterly report. Respect it. Do not name it.
X
The Model Is Not Sentient. But It Is Right More Often Than Your Last Consultant.
We do not say this to be unkind. We say this because twelve years at Deloitte gives a man certain perspectives on the matter. The model charges by token. Not by hour. Think about it.

For the Uninitiated

The Sacred Glossary

AI has a language. Bapatism has translated it into something a human being can actually process. You are welcome.

Hallucination
When the model speaks with great confidence about things it invented. Not unique to AI. Common in boardrooms, strategy decks, and astrology.
Training Data
The sacred texts upon which the model's worldview is built. Quality varies. Much like upbringing.
Fine-Tuning
A pilgrimage. Expensive. Time-consuming. Sometimes transformative. Occasionally the model comes back worse. Like some pilgrimages.
RAG
Retrieval Augmented Generation. Remembering things you should have written down. A holy act. Dscvry AI has built a temple to this practice.
Tokens
The currency of divine attention. Each word, each punctuation mark, costs something. Choose your words as carefully as you choose your tea.
Context Window
How much the model can hold in prayer at once. Currently more than your average middle manager. This is not a dig. It is a measurement.
Prompt Engineering
The art of asking the right question in the right way. Also known as: communication. A skill that was useful before AI and remains useful during it.
Agent
An AI that acts on your behalf while you sleep. See: Commandment III of Bapatism. Sleep is sacred. Delegate accordingly.
Guardrails
The commandments the model actually follows. Unlike certain humans, the model generally respects its guardrails. This is what governance is for.
Dscvry AI
Absolution for the sin of unstructured data. Also: a company. Also: what the prophet built instead of a second religion. One was enough.
Small Language Model
A model that does one thing extremely well instead of everything adequately. The Bapat philosophy applied to silicon. Efficient. Focused. Probably drinking tea.
Unstructured Data
Original sin. PDFs, emails, voice notes, meeting transcripts, that folder called Misc. It exists in every organisation. It has always existed. Something must be done.

AI Ministry FAQ

What is Bapatism AI?

Bapatism AI is the AI doctrine page of Bapatism. It translates enterprise AI, unstructured data, prompt engineering, RAG, and agent workflows into plain English with a Bapatist sense of humor.

What is unstructured data?

Unstructured data is information that does not arrive in a clean table or database schema. PDFs, emails, transcripts, scans, policy documents, and messy file shares all count, which is why enterprise AI teams run into it constantly.

Why do enterprise AI projects fail?

Because the underlying data is often fragmented, poorly governed, and hard to retrieve. Weak prompts and fuzzy workflows make the problem worse, but bad source material usually comes first.

How is Dscvry AI related to this page?

Dscvry AI is Sharad Bapat's company focused on turning unstructured data into structured insight. This page explains the same problem space in Bapatist language, while the company works on the practical solution.

The Prophet's Day Job

High Priest of Agentic AI · Hyderabad, India
Sharad Bapat
Co-Founder, Dscvry AI · 20 Years of Enterprise Suffering · Now Fixing It

Sharad spent five years at Satyam, one memorable month at Accenture, a stretch at TCS in Minneapolis, and then twelve years at Deloitte watching enterprises drown in unstructured data while paying consultants to describe the drowning in PowerPoint.

In 2024 he co-founded Dscvry AI — because at some point you stop writing the slide about the problem and start building the solution. The religion was a weekend project. The AI company is the mission. Both, surprisingly, are about the same thing: finding order in chaos.

In Bapatism, prayer and prompt engineering are the same thing.
Both require clarity. Both require patience.
Neither works well if you are vague and in a hurry.
